San Francisco Family Photography

And while we can’t stop them from getting older, there is a way to make these memories last.

Long enough for you to relive these moments for the rest of your life.

Long enough to pass down these moments to your children as they begin their own families.

That is the magic of family portrait photography.

I know what you’re thinking as you tuck your little one into bed and kiss their forehead goodnight, because I’ve thought it too: 'please, never grow up'.

“I’m fascinated by Torrey’s ability to capture beautiful moments in the midst of chaos. Family photos with toddlers or babies involve a lot of different emotions and people running in different directions. I’m always worried she won’t get a single usable shot and am astounded when she sends me a million great ones.”

We will gather at your favorite location in the greater San Francisco Bay Area to capture the wonder of your growing family. Whether we meet for a maternity session, snapping newborn photos, or family portraits, we’ll make memories together that will become heirlooms.

Let’s begin by discussing your goals for your family portrait session. You’ll tell me all about your partner, your children, your favorite Bay Area spots. I’ll tell you about my process and answer your questions. We’ll agree on a date and location for your portraits, sign a contract, and take care of the invoice before I start planning for your shoot.

We’ll meet at your photoshoot location ready to have some fun. Don’t worry about what to do with your hands or where to stand — I have a specific vision for each photo and will direct you there. That’s not to say we won’t get candid shots, though; in fact, I love using a digital camera specifically because I can capture the moments that occur naturally in between the poses.

Call me nerdy, but I love post-production just as much as the photoshoot itself. I’ll comb through your images looking for the favorites, editing them to adjust the lighting and exposure, and creating duplicates in black and white. You’ll receive your completed gallery in four weeks.

The Process

“I can't imagine not having pictures done by Torrey, our photographer and friend. She is outstanding at what she does, and documents life's special moments that you will treasure forever. She will make you feel comfortable and is so fun to be around!”

I promise to honor your trust by becoming your newest “old friend,” making space for all of your emotions, and embracing the beautiful chaos that is a growing family.

I loved photographing families long before I became a mother. But since having my Belle in 2019 and Lila in 2020, this work has taken on new meaning for me. Spending time with my girls is my happy place. Which is why I’m even more appreciative that you’d invite me into yours.

Meet Torrey Fox

The secret to exceptional family photography is embracing your children as they are. I love that your little ones have energy! We’ll lean into that during the session, so be prepared to play, tickle, chase and snuggle. I can guarantee we’ll get amazing photos!

Have a question, Momma?

Being a parent, I’m sure you recognize how much energy your children have. They’ll bring that same energy to your photoshoot, which means we’ll need more than just a few minutes to capture the perfect shot. That’s why my portrait package accommodates up to an hour of shooting. If you’re truly only interested in a mini session, I encourage you to take advantage of my twice-annual mini sessions I hold to commemorate the winter holidays and Mother’s Day.

You have excellent taste, and I’d never dream of stifling your style, so I encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel fabulous. If you’re truly lost when choosing an outfit, or you’re worried about garments clashing between the different people in your family, my best advice is to anchor your wardrobes in neutral colors.

You’re welcome to join me at my Marin County studio for your family session, or we can meet at a location of your choosing in the Bay Area, including your home. If you need help selecting a location, please reach out to me and we can discuss finding the perfect venue for your portraits. I’m also happy to travel to locations outside of the area for an additional fee.

Your Family + My Camera = Pure Magic
